when the girls were younger they attended a small christian school. dan was in administration there at the time. savannah went K-6th, madison K-4th and emi K-3rd. we left and moved over to a large public school where the girls have attended ever since. changing schools is always tough but leaving behind friends is usually the hardest part.
madison’s best friends were mackenzie, brittany & tayler. triplets who’s mom i loved as much as the girls loved each other. we did everything together for a few years. trick or treat, swim team, beach trips and many sleep overs. i think leaving them was one of the most tender times in our home. thankfully madi has stayed in touch with them over the years & kept up a precious friendship.
cindy ( their mama) reached out early in the year to request senior photos. talk about a surreal moment. seniors? they were just 6!
so last week, over spring break ( the only time we could find because the girls are stud athletes with full schedules), we finally had an available date for each of us. sadly madison had a class ( she’s dual enrolled & her college was not on spring break that week) and couldn’t attend.
can i just tell you what a delight it was to be with these girls. in my minds eye i still see those precious little 6 year old faces. while whenever i shoot i feel like i’m in sort of a photographer zone and vascilate between enjoying conversation & seeking the best lighting…but many times i could feel a lump in my throat as i really thought about them and watching them grow into amazing young women.
cindy has done an amazing job raising her girls. they are beautiful & full of joy! they each have an incredibly bright future ahead of them. med school, nursing school & perhaps a future olympian.
girls, i caught myself smiling at every single image as i worked on these. i wish you all the best in wrapping up your senior year! you will each forever be loved by the knudsen family!
