imogen claire needs prayer.

years ago i went to nursing school. i knew i wanted to do one thing & really just that one thing. i wanted to take care of children with cancer. living here in atlanta we have what is respectably one of the absolute best hospitals in the world to be if your child were to be diagnosed with cancer. Childrens Health Care of Atlanta.

well, now 20 something years later the lord has given me another passion.  this past sunday, the biggest career callings on my life collided, if you will.

tammy & aj are a special couple to our family. and especially with savannah. aj used to work with the middle school at our church & tammy was a small group devotional leader for savannah while she was in highschool.

if i understand their time line correctly, their sweet imogen claire was having difficulty walking…i think she even went a couple weeks without walking or bearing weight at all. after many scans and tests, sweet immy was diagnosed with ganglioneuroblastoma  and has began chemotherapy.

a couple weeks ago tammy messaged me & asked if we could get in a photosession before this coming monday. immy would head back in for chemo round two and they really wanted to document this stage in her life….before her little blond curls fell out.

well this past sunday afternoon tammy called. imogen’s hair had begun to fall out in clumps that day. we needed photos. asap. they had friends & family coming over in the next couple hours to trim her hair, so sunday evening was out. so we set our time for monday morning. well as sunday evening rolled on, immy’s temperature began to rise. any immunosuppressed kiddo need to head to the ER immediately with fever. tammy & aj’s bags were packed. i prayed…dear lord, please keep that fever at bay….and please don’t let the rest of her hair fall out before morning.

monday morning i texted tammy & found out immy’s fever had stopped rising & we were on for photos!!

i knew in my minds eye the image i wanted for them…but the location we were going to meet at didn’t have that look. with distance & logistics and other details we were going to meet near their home.

but ya’ll, i drove up and just beside our location was an open, tall grassy field….with glorious lighting.

i know that was from the lord. i know, i know i know, He kept that fever at bay. he did.

any slight little breeze and you could sweet immy’s little pieces of hair blowing away. in fact in several of the pictures, i can see little loose hairs on her daddy’s yellow ( the color for cancer awareness month) shirt.

i wanted to share just a few of the images from that day. i have loads more but until i can finish a  little post edit work i couldn’t go another day without sharing….

here’s the glorious setting i drove up to….

and this was the image in my heart…that i knew i wanted to capture…

the lighting was magical….so naturally i sent daddy & immy back in there to look for fairies.

within a couple hours of returning home, tammy sent me a text. immy’s temp had risen, they were in the ER and soon to be admitted. tell me that was not a miracle….tell me that was not a miracle that a temp that was starting to rise did not, tell me that was a miracle that her sweet blond hair was still there monday morning…because by tuesday, it was all gone.

is she the most chic child?

i want to share with ya’ll a couple ways you can help this precious young family.

pray for them. pray for wisdom for the doctors. pray that the chemo will do its job & kill the bad cells. pray that her little body will rebound quickly post chemo. pray for mommy & daddy & bubby that they will experience a peace that passes all understanding. protection for their marriage & that bubby will thrive despite what might become a hectic schedule.

here is their blog, you can follow along…. the passman family blog.

here’s a fundraiser set up by one of aj’s fellow UGA MBA family. aj passman & family fundraiser

local friends, monday september 23 johnny’s pizza will also be donating $$ , so go grab some pizza.

Amy - Beautiful family……..beautiful story….and the mighty grace of God showing his mercy and giving you all the opportunity to have that photo session. Brings back so many memories as Emily was undergoing treatment and on the verge of losing her hair when she mentioned to one of her nurses that she was sad as she would not be able to have her senior pictures done since she was hospitalized. Sweet and caring girl that she was, never uttered a word to me as she didn’t want to feel like she was imposing 🙁 That nurse arranged for a photo shoot that very afternoon in the hospital. Bittersweet moments and memories. God steps in exactly when we need him….he’s so smart like that 🙂 You’re a vessel for him, Paige in the loving and caring work you do. I’m so blessed that he brought you into my life. Much love to you, sweet friend.

ellie - oh paige. thank God for his sweet mercy. these photos are gorgeous. trying to type through the tears. i really want you to know that you didn’t just capture beautiful photos – you captured so.much.more. you captured their spirits. their love. their dependence on one another. their hopes. and maybe a bit, their fears.

you have also moved people to pray – and i can really see God using you in this area – your photos moving people to compassion and to ACT. changing the world through your photography.

you shine.
