a little fall around the house

november home 066

while technically to some it’s “only november”, i’m completely enjoying christmas music on pandora.  david crowder, third day, casting crowns, sarah mclachlan, bebo norman, mercy me, chris tomlin’s glory in the highest, amy grant—i love love love their christmas music. so there may have been a few jokes as my family members walk by my studio with the sound of “O Holy Night” playing somewhat loudly….

i’ve encouraged them to count it a blessing that i’m not playing it in the car and there isn’t a hint of christmas decor going on yet…however things may get a little crazy soon. i’m heading out of town all of next week & i love to start decorating the week prior to thanksgiving….so that  as soon as we clean up from turkey & dressing, the lights are already twinkling and it’s truly beginning to look a lot like christmas.

our home will be part of jennifer rizzo’s holiday house walk again this year, & since that begins december 2, somehow our home needs decorating. and pronto. eek.

if you’d like to see some of our christmas home from last year, look in the top tool bar & under “personal images” you’ll see “merry christmas” or you may open this link as well.

so for now, here are a few glimpses around our home before we deck the halls.

after seeing tara’s gorgeous hand-blown glass from paris i have been in a little search. lucky for me, one of my favorite antique booths at the country living fair had this beauty from germany. i purchased a french doughbowl from them last year & love their pieces. now i need a dozen cotton branches & my life will be complete.november home 002

Amy Avery - Good morning friend!
I am laughing right now because I recently posted about living in the season, meaning the one that we are currently in. I certainly did not mean though that the sounds of Christmas music couldn’t ring out in the homes of many as it is such a wonderful and fleeting moment that we do get to listen to the sweet sounds of Christmas carols. I did feel accosted by fake garland and wreaths adorning my local grocery store and auto tune place on November 1, so I went on the defensive and “spoke for the trees.”
I am so looking forward to Jennifer Rizzo’s house walks again this year. I always love seeing your home decorated for the holidays. I have been inspired by your recent video about how you decluttered and simplified your life. I have been on a quest of doing the same and have thought often of you hauling off loads to the Goodwill of your own things as I myself packed my card full of STUFF and hauled it away. It’s so freeing to let go of the things you thought you needed. Sorry this is a long comment. One last thing, I love your beautiful fall décor especially seeing one of “Hutton’s Hearts” displayed out there. We are connected through so many people, someday I will meet you in real life. Until then, enjoy your Christmas music!

Lindsey - Whenever you do house tours I just keep thinking….y’all need to go away for a few days so I can come house sit! 🙂

D'Nese - I love it! I can scream and shout and say, “I LOVE IT!” LOL.

Can’t wait to see the holiday house tour!

Lemonade Makin' Mama - I love it all… such prettiness! I have a glass jar very similar to that… one of my faves. Love the simplicity. I always enjoy your decor photos as we like some similar things. I can’t wait to see your holiday house walk and am unashamedly putting out twinkling lights and fun decor here and there. It’s peeping out… because I can’t help it. I get seasonal confusion. LOL

November 12, 2013 - 12:54 pm

Kerri - I never tire of looking at pictures of your beautiful, warm and cozy home! Where did you find that sweet little collection of votives? They are amazing! And what a great idea displaying bracelets on the branches rather than earrings or necklaces! I love it. I can’t wait to see your home dressed for the holidays Paige!

November 12, 2013 - 3:20 pm

Ella - Lovely, lovely home!
My favorite is your photo board with all the summer pictures of your girls.
Caroline’s room looks beautiful! I like her pillows, chandelair, and her crayon canvas.

November 12, 2013 - 3:35 pm

Jennifer Pighini - Ahhh, so serene, light-filled and not a sign of a stuffed animal or block or crayon in sight! Absolutely beautiful and something I will aspire to…someday. 🙂 I am especially loving the gallery wall with your sweet melissa and the fruit of the spirit canvas!

November 12, 2013 - 4:04 pm

jodi - beautiful…every single picture. I just love your home, it just looks so comfortable!

Take care!

November 12, 2013 - 7:11 pm

Lori H - Oh my goodness, I love your house! I need to find your post about simplifying and how to make a pin board. Did you paint the small beachy canvases on your wall? The ones that look like ocean.
Have a great time wherever you are going!

November 12, 2013 - 11:01 pm

Cathy G. - Love your pics!!! Your house looks so easy to dust!!! 🙂

November 13, 2013 - 9:34 am

Sara - So beautiful and calm. Please tell me about the linen board. Did you make it? Audrey (11) wants a wall size bulletin board in her room and I would love for it to be a little more lovely than a bulletin board. Something like yours in fact!

November 13, 2013 - 9:37 am

Susan - Love….with a capital “L”!!!!

November 13, 2013 - 3:07 pm
