several things to tell you

good morning friends! i pray each of you had a blessed thanksgiving & that  your heart is full…and perhaps your belly as well!

we had a great day with my mom & dad ( mimi & poppy) and my brother and sis in law. caroline has become quite the “chopped” fan and therefore her interest in baking & cooking has increased! she researched a few recipes she wanted to add to our list. i was so impressed! she woke up early with me and began all the prep for pioneer woman’s green bean casserole as well as rice krispie treats which she also embellished. i added sweet potato casserole, dan’s mom’s recipe for macaroni & cheese, prosciutto wrapped asparagus & i made the dressing as well. my mom baked the turkey & made some heavy appetizers and we called it a wonderful feast!

several years ago savannah & bailey began their annual black friday extravaganza. each year they’ve added in a few of the sisters…and this year even implemented a mandatory dress code. all black, comfortable shoes and fanny packs. i can’t even.

they left at 9pm and drug back in around 7am. true story.

i’ve hated my hair for quite a while. i need to color my roots fairly frequently which has made it dry. i’ve worn it long for years so when i shoot or workout i always want it off my face. thus began a ridiculous amount of pony-tail default days. i was over it. and i was tired of feeling self conscious about it. i also have a thing about going to the salon. i hate to sit in front of a mirror for that long. i know. most women love the entire event & keep their hair style up to date. gosh the entire thing makes me anxious.

so i dug deep & went to a cutie patootie ( sarah jean at genesis for local friends…she ROCKS!) who did emi’s balayage …took my ponytail down & told her to do something….preferably an angled bob. 10 inches ( at least) off the back and bam!! i love it!! i cut it 8 days ago & haven’t had a pony tail in since then! (it’s hard to photograph the back, but the shortest layer is maybe only 4 inches) go big or go home right? haha!

dan & i did black friday the following way: breakfast at waffle house, served by our favorite employee D.C. and then off to home depot for a tree. i may be picky about certain things but i’m pretty easy to please with the tree…so for the numerous time, we bought the first one we picked up!

we’ve been pumping out projects around here left and right…no rest for the weary…

the image at the beginning of the post was snapped with my iPhone wednesday evening. i climbed back into the truck after shooting a gorgeous extended family on their property. i glanced back over the pasture and was captivated by the beauty that unfolded while i was shooting. these last several weeks have been the absolute busiest i’ve had in quite a while. i made several obligations (outside of my “jobs”) which i might limit next year. with all the rain we had this fall, rescheduling for photo shoots has been bananas. however thankfully all but one family was able to get a slot. i’ll still be shooting through the 13th of december & then i’m taking off 2 weeks before i crank back up again. i can’t tell you how much i love doing what i do. i absolutely love it. i’ve photographed some of the sweetest families, expectant couples, couples who have had infertility struggles and now are carrying ( a couple of those this year) and will share with their families via the images we snapped…the list goes on and on. i am beyond grateful. i am beyond honored to be trusted with these images. so very very thankful this year for so many many things.
