abe~ a birth story

one of the most rewarding aspects of photography is when someone trusts me not only to capture images for them but trusts me with the backstory as well.  you guys have no idea how many times i’ve shared images both here & on other social media platforms where i’ve wanted to add a narrative.  being a story person, an artist and yet maintaining professionalism can be tricky at best. there’ve been many a session where i wait to climb back in my car before i allow the tears to fall. sometimes it’s because i’ve been asked to photograph a family who’s loved one’s battle with cancer is drawing to an end. sometimes it’s because someone has started chemo and as i shoot i can see the loose hairs begin to fall, illuminated by the back lighting. sometimes its because a family is celebrating a graduate meanwhile there’s a tenderhearted mama wiping her tears off to the side. sometimes it’s because a family who has battled infertility has just brought home the baby they’ve spent years praying for. and sometimes its because of pure joy & happiness of finding the one.

as a photographer being trusted to capture and create, document and story tell is both humbling & empowering. and being trusted to capture a live birth was an amazing privilege. absolutely amazing.

this morning i’ve been given permission to share abe’s birth story with you. there’s precious chapters to this story that,  as with any birth, are tender & shared only with the family, but i invite you in to celebrate the miracle of birth through this gallery.  lee & danielle, i celebrate your beautiful family with you!!

(& ps.be sure & follow as next week i’ll share his newborn images with you as well!)
