ambassadors, austin & a big sale

5 months ago i sat in the atlanta airport, nervously about to board a plane to guatemala with a handful of other noonday ambassadors, reading the encouraging words of jen hatmaker. this morning i’ll board another plane, this time heading to austin texas for an ambassador conference ! i never thought either of these trips would really come to fruition for me. these past two years, representing noonday has been one of the most major life changers for me. ever.

i am constantly amazed at the work i see being done, changes are occuring, peoples lives are better. i’ve made friendships that will last forever. i know they will. i have heard words spoken, blessings given & prayers over me and my girlfriends that have left me a changed woman.

this weekend over 120 of us are flying in from all over the united states. we’ll hang out with jessica honegger, our founder and world changer. we’ll visit with jen hatmaker & jennie allen! ( i know!!) and what i’m sure will be a very emotional part of the weekend…we’ll meet jalia. jalia and her husband daniel manage what began as only 2 and now is over 200 artisans in uganda! our exclusive group that hand beads our jewelry.

this is jalia & jessica. when i say they’re changing the world , i mean they. are. changing. the. world. do you get it? it still blows me away how cool our god is. these two women, sisters, from different continents, hanging out at the mac counter on jalia’s first trip to america. you must read a little about her testimony here. here’s a tiny blip

“Jalia is number 29 of 40 siblings. Her father was a zealous Muslim of four wives who died only a couple of years ago. Jalia heard about Jesus when she was 19 and the new found truth of God’s unconditional love gave her the courage to go against her father and become a Christian. Violence often ensued in her home because of this decision so she soon fled and found refuge in a pastor’s home. She met her husband, Daniel, while they both studied art at the local university.”
so yes, to meet face to face jalia, who truly represents why we do what we do is gonna be a big emotional powerful joyful teary event. probably for every single one of us!

the entire team from our guatemala trip will be there! ( even whitney who just birthed a baby last week. forcryingoutloud!) the lord really knit together our hearts! i can’t even explain it. but truly they are like sisters to me!

i want to share a little more stories behind what i saw & experienced on that trip…and i will.i promise! we followed the labor intensive process of the making of our ana scarf.

we met ana, the 24 year old entrepreneur & visionary who is indeed changing her community. she manages the group of women who create many of our pieces from guatemala. we ate in her home & hugged her neck and wept as she blessed us with an extravagant meal & gifts!anaguatemala 025guatemala 040guatemala 062guatemala 070guatemala 355guatemala 710guatemala 742guatemala 811guatemala 823guatemala 1001guatemala 1138Screen-Shot-2013-09-09-at-12.30.11-PM

Lemonade Makin' Mama - I LOVE Noonday. I am so in love with the vision and these sweet women behind such gorgeous items.

patty - beautiful images… i imagine it was quite a trip-and reuniting will be amazing! i can’t help but think about girleffect. it’s a movement i’ve been following for a couple of years. the objective is to drive funding to impoverished adolescent girls b/c they will have the greatest effect on their communities. i look at these pictures and know that you are changing not only the lives of these women who now have jobs (& maybe purpose), but also of their families and communities. women are so much more likely to give back to their communities. men tend to leave. the research is staggering. kudos to you and to noonday. xo
