beach pics? saddle up. here we go.

morning friends!

i have to give fair warning because i don’t want anyone dropping in over here in the next two weeks ( yes it will take that long) and wondering what the heck is going on. i’ll be sharing loads of images from our time at seaside. i see my life and all around me through a lens. i’m constantly seeing a sunset and thinking…wow, what a gorgeous image.  i’m constantly looking at my girls laughing & thinking…i need to capture this & save it in my heart & in a frame forever. i’m constantly looking for white cows along the highway to stop and…well, photograph of course. so, being in my fave place with my fave people, who happened to be tanned and well fed on the foods of 30-A is recipe for loads of pictures.

let me first say. does anyone else lose their mind having to deal with Comcast ? i’m here to tell you. i have never been so shocked by the pathetic customer service i received after a TWO hour phone call with those folks. surely they can figure out a better way. besides a significant communication barrior with comcast employee #1, i was then told by employee #2, a supervisor that i requested mind you, that he was more concerned about his “job on the line” than the speediness or lack thereof of my service. oh yes he did. he said it twice. maybe three times. have you ever? i said a cuss word at him. ya’ll. i really did. one of the big ones too.

well. The Geek Squad is rolling in later today & im praying they can fix our problem ( which yes, we’ve trouble shot all possible issues within our limited technical knowledge).

i realize i’m incharge of and responsible for how i personally respond to situations but for cryingoutloud that comcast dude, whose name i now have, was ridiculous enough to make me crazy.

alrighty. on to more important things.

ya’ll were so funny about enjoying that i fessed up to a rough night. surely that did not come as a surprise. with four teenagers in our home surely you know we don’t always get along. while i think they are each totally awesome & have many strengths & gifts…. two of them could bite each other’s heads off on any given day. one can be insensitive. one can be oversensitive. one can be stubborn. one may or may not always be forthcoming with the truth. i’m not a mom who would ever throw my kids under the bus. while i would never use this platform to single one of them out and point out a defiant spirit or disobedience and disrespect …we are a real family with real issues trying to figure out how to best love on and communicate with each other. i honestly do try to balance sharing the good with being honest about sharing struggles.

having said all that, vacations can be an easy target for things to get a little wonky. there’s expectations and expenses and humidity…you get the picture!

first & last meals are usually at Seagrove Market. best fried shrimp poboy on the gulf. in my humble opinion. checked in to our home for the week, Rogers Lighthouse and a quick jaunt through just a couple of the shops just behind our little beach cottage.

this is the view we have from our roof for the week….

lucky for us, the last two years we’ve been in Seaside the same time Kim & family have been there. we hooked up with them immediately! kim is gorgeous in person and as warm and charming as you’d expect her to be. her boys are handsome and very well mannered and quite impressive. and that kate….talk about effervescent! she’s never met a stranger and smiles & all times. she & emi have a little connection and sweet friendship!

i usually dont want to be in many photos-which moms, is a terrible attitude to have–but this year i hopped in for a few.  savannah was able to join us but not until later in the week. so you’ll see her soon 🙂

i also have to tell you, i leave with a few of the crew from Noonday, two weeks from today, to head to Guatemala!  i’m excited and nervous. i’m not a seasoned traveler and i tend to get headaches & motion sickness fairly easily. any tips ya’ll have i’m wide open! also if you’d pray for me that everything falls in to place i’d greatly appreciate that!

July 25, 2013 - 11:46 am

Heather S. - Not sure about your Comcast but the automated system assures me each time that I’m one of their most valuable customers. I’ve conquered the machines, now to win over the humans…
Your Seaside photos are beautiful and I can’t believe how tall your baby has gotten! All the girls are almost the same height now.
Best wishes abd safe travels on your trip! (I use Excedrin. Dramamine makes me feel sluggish but works in a pinch)

July 25, 2013 - 12:03 pm

Wendy - I’m enjoying reading your vacation posts since we are at Santa Rosa beach right now. We will have to try the po boys! For the motion sickness try SeaBands. They are like sweatbands that you wear and put pressure on certain points in your wrist to help an are drug free. They really work. Ask for the at the pharmacy at Publix. I will be praying for your trip!

July 25, 2013 - 12:42 pm

Jen Pighini - Love your pics and can’t wait to see more. Makes me homesick for my favorite beach! October can’t get here soon enough for our annual fall family trip. We love Seagrove Market too – we eat there at least once every trip, sometimes twice. Will be praying for your trip, i know you are so excited and that you will be incredibly blessed on the trip!

July 25, 2013 - 1:10 pm

Ashley R - Oh Paige, seriously you all are just too cute for words! And really you look like a total babe in that last picture with you and the girls! I can’t wait to see more pics.

July 25, 2013 - 2:53 pm

Sarina - Hey there Paige! I love reading your blog… your family is so beautiful, and you all have such great style! You asked for some travel tips; I haven’t tried it myself but have a friend who swears by it: if you take some bitters (get a miniature for your travels) and put a few drops on your tongue or mix it with some 7-Up/water, it’ll soothe any nausea/ bloating and also any digestive issues.

July 25, 2013 - 3:25 pm

linda finley - Oh my…love your Seaside pictures! Your entire family is completely adorable, and…you truly look like one of the girls, NOT their momma 🙂 Hey, would you ever consider doing a total Seaside post?! Restaurants, places to stay, shopping? I have been pondering a seaside family trip for a couple years, looked on vrbo for rentals etc., but it’s so hard to pick a place when you don’t know the area. Say for someone who wants to totally be by the beach and busyness, would you want to rent a place in Seaside proper or no? I would totally love a total-lowdown-on-Seaside post! And, here’s the perfect combo to combat motion sickness…it’s worked on a private cruise we took where you could feel every.stinkin.motion. of the boat, and on a normal cruise where you only feel motion at certain times…the sea bands PLUS the prescription patches behind the ears. The patches are unreal! Seriously you put them on ahead of time so your system can get used to them, and you are good to go. You feel kind of wonky when you take them off after a week at sea, but they really really work. And, lastly…thank you for your precious vulnerability and honesty, Paige. It’s always so good to hear that all is not always perfect, and that your girls have “days” too 😉 Linda

Holly - Praying for your trip! SO exciting!! We have friends that work near the Noonday folks in Rwanda! The hubs and I leave for Africa in 3 weeks!!! Yikes! I’m not even packed!! In a perfect world we’d all have that view of the ocean! Love that God shares just the tiniest bit of His glory and majesty with us in those beautiful ocean views and sunsets!!

July 25, 2013 - 7:22 pm

Nanci - Paige love the ruffle dress from your instrag with rachel and Sloan where can I get one

July 26, 2013 - 7:55 am

Allyson Reynolds - Simply put… I miss you.
Your words always encourage me whether it’s with laughter, tears, or quiet thoughts. Your sweet family blesses me and I’m soooo proud of the mother and wife you are. Love you xxxxoooo

July 26, 2013 - 9:05 am

Rhonda - Prayers are going up for safe travels. I also get motion sickness. Ask your doctor for a Rx for the patch that goes behind your ear……works great for me. Love love love your photos!

July 26, 2013 - 9:15 am

One Fabulous Mom - Love the pics! And the outfits. Such wonderful times!!!

July 26, 2013 - 9:43 am

Debbie - Looks like you had a wonderful time. Love the gulf and so nice that you could enjoy with your family all together. Nice times to treasure. I too have had an unfortunate run in with Comcast which involved more time on hold and repetition than I ever thought possible. I once heard they were the most hated company in America. I think this lady had the worst experience ever:
Not condoning, but really, they need a lesson or two in customer service.

July 27, 2013 - 9:20 pm

patty - such beautiful images… love the shops (so inspiring) and you are surrounded by beautiful peeps, too… hope you are having a wonderful time… and don’t let that comcast guy get you down (but i’ve so been there!)

July 28, 2013 - 8:40 am

Teresa - Thank you for being so real!

July 28, 2013 - 10:12 pm

Destiny - I’m already praying because He’s already there and waiting on you…

July 30, 2013 - 2:25 am

ileana - I also want to know where you got the feed Guatemala bag, and if there is anything I can do to help. I am from Guatemala and always looking for ways to give to my country. I have lived in the U S A for most of my life, and I feel so blessed.

August 1, 2013 - 6:39 pm

Kim from 3 peanuts - Can you tell I am catching up here? I love all of these photos. They are beautiful and fun and they capture the memories. And I am glad you are in them too. You should not be behind the lens all the time. I am praying for your upcoming trip. I get motion sickness too. UGH!
