bubby, brinkley, baking DIY & big mama’s new book

gosh i love when i can title my post with an alliteration.

the other morning madison brought aaron, affectionately referred to as bubby~imogen’s little bro, over for playtime while immy & her mama spent the morning at her preschool christmas party. immy is doing great. for those of ya’ll who have reached out & encouraged their family, i thank you! i remember when gregg was sick i was always so blown away by the love and support of “new friends” or folks that weren’t necessarily in our daily lives. those folks often seem like the ones who step up in extraordinary ways. you know what i mean? or maybe it’s just that the love of a stranger is always a humbling precious unexpected gift.

aj, immy & bubby’s dad with a great sense of humor updates their blog which you can follow here

here’s her latest medical update in aj’s words

“We really liked the surgeon and the oncologist, Dr. Weiss. In summary, he agrees with monitoring Imogen’s tumor via MRI every 12 weeks. The PET scan showed no malignancy in the part by the kidney. There is still a little malignancy in there. It’s very low, but it’s in the part that is closest to the spine. So the only part for which they’d even consider a biopsy is inoperable.
He’s 100% against any aggressive or invasive approaches (chemo, radiation, surgery) from this point on, unless the tumor shows growth in future scans, or if she becomes symptomatic. He reiterated how rare this is, so there’s no tried-and-true treatment regiment, and any doc would need time to observe before making any further decisions.
We feel good that PET scan showed very little malignancy only on portion we could never get to anyway.
So, what’s next? Well, Tiny is still at risk for urological problems, whether they be because of a physical obstruction or nerve problems. So, we will be meeting with a urologist for an ultrasound soon to see if her kidneys, ureter, and bladder are all able to do what they’re supposed to.”
so back to bubby. my girls are all very maternal. so bring a toddler over here & it’s all any of them can do to restrain from eating said toddler up with a spoon. brinkley loves to smell & eat babies with a spoon as well…
as soon as the party was over little immy cruised on over for some brinkley love as well
that image above. my goodness. golden retrievers are such gentle loving animals.
i also wanted to share caroline’s little DIY she gifted her friends.
casey brandon 001casey brandon 004casey brandon 015
prep the surface with vinegar or alcohol
draw your image with sharpie
place in oven at 425 degrees. do not preheat. for 30 min.
when finished crack open oven until mug is cool to the touch
and then….”enjoy”…per caroline 😉
we found her mugs at the dollar store. she used a set of sharpies and gold metallic sharpie as well. they turned out crazy cute. each one is a little private joke or something special for each friend. on the back she wrote ily ( i love you) and 2013 on the handle. goodness. total cuteness. i’m seriously heading back to the dollar store and grabbing 2 or 12 so she can make a set for me with some of my favorite narnia quotes. i love her little penmanship.
true story. she researched this little project & then designed them all on her own. yes i was busy being mom-of-the-year and reading magazines in my jammies. in bed. i did however pitch in during the baking part. once they were cool to the touch she filled each with a hot cocoa packet, york peppermint patties & hershey’s kisses.
i’m so tickled about the latest releasefrom my friend melanie, also known as big mama. The Antelope in the Living Room.

girlfriend writes & has the art of making you laugh out loud as fantastically as she does hair….. need i say more? seriously, her sparkling green earrings is a must read if you haven’t already.

i met melanie at the allume conference back in the fall. we’ve been chatty bloggy friends for a while.  and another true story-i began almost a year ago to lose weight for allume. i did. i knew i’d see my friends emily & edie & melanie ( just to name a few) and i had to drop some pounds.  when edie told me we’d be roomates i thought by golly, i am not showing up with all these gorgeous friends of mine and  be wearing all black, johnny cash style,  because i feel awful about my weight. so 25 pounds later, i met those friends of mine ( i never wore all black ) & ya’ll. they are each as amazing & humble & hilarious in person as you think they’d be.

melanie is delightful. and the hair. yes the hair is fantastic. her texas accent is beautiful but her genuine heart as a friend, mother & wife and primarily a lover of jesus is what i admire more than anything. so congratulations on your new book my friend!!!

(shameless plug…her necklace can be found here. famous sweater is from free people)

teresa bullard - Paige, the last two identical photographs, the one in color of Immy and Brinkley is the best photo you have ever taken! I’ve been a follower of your blog for a long time and have been blown away by your photos but being active in Golden Retriever Rescue for many, many years I can feel the love in that photo. Goldens are remarkable, loving, kind, gentle and you captured that perfectly – Immy is feeling all of that loving energy… just beautiful.

tara - seeing these pictures of bubby made me wonder if someday a few of your girls won’t have baby boys of their own that they bring to your house. 🙂 years from now, of course.
on a sidenote: we used to call our boys bubby when they were babies. 🙂

I need to pick up Melanie’s books! I can’t believe I haven’t read them yet!!! That sounds like the perfect thing for me to do, while I’m waiting on Seth and Andy to get over THE FLU!!!!!!
