if i had to choose one word to describe emi, it would be a close tie between loyal & happy. she’s honestly like the golden retriever of girlfriends. ( emi-you know goldens are my favorite dog. please know i’m not comparing you to a doggy! ;)) always wants to hang out with those whom she loves. it’s funny because i’ve learned to never say anything somewhat critical of anyone in front of her because she’s the eternal giver of the benefit of the doubt & will rally for anyone at any time. she forgives super quickly and moves on. i remember when the girls were little, since she was the youngest for several years, she’d often times be the one fussed at or left out. i would watch her time & time again, quickly recover & then ask one of her sisters to play with her. dan & i often use “wanna play barbies?” whenever we see one of the girls be resilient in a situation.
the day of prom i had a session that was under a time crunch & already rescheduled due to rain. caroline had an event and as often times in large famlies, i couldn’t be in all places at one time. shocking. so emily went & did all her prom prep solo. when she walked in the door, she literally took my breath away. as the evening progressed & phototime began, the thing that continued to touch me was how much fun she was having. while certainly she’s all dolled up & looking amazing, i think she’d have been just as pretty to me in her nike shorts, oversized T and a hair tie. happy girls really are the prettiest.
one thing i thought was so cute was that one of emi’s sweet friends asked caroline to do her makeup. she was headed out to her own party right afterwards hence the curlers.
some of the parents created the loveliest space for the kids to enjoy their pre-prom dinner. it was so elegant! & honestly, such a fun way to celebrate before heading out!
