so apparently the blog is on spring break

hi friends! i wanted to drop in real quick & explain my little absence. the last week has been busy busy busy.

i turned 48 on april fools day which i always think is sorta a waste of a good birth “date” as i’m not a prankster and never remember the punch line to any jokes. but nonetheless. it’s so weird to inch on up in years because truth be told, i feel like i’m 36. forever. in fact in my head i’m always gonna be 36. how does that sound?

dan & i celerated our 15th anniversary in a whirlwind. i spent the day taking brinkley on his longest card ride ever. savannah graciously offered to keep him while we took a little trip. she has some sweet pics of their time together & truth be told, he had the adventure of his life! i’ll share more of that later.IMG_6052

the rest of us packed up & left early friday morning to head down to seaside. caroline has been cheering on a travel squad & they competed in that area earlier this week. it’s been such a treat to watch her compete but i gotta tell ya, allstar competitive cheerleading is quite the gig. let’s just say, it has made for interesting people watching.more on that later.

we were only set to be there for 3 1/2 days. 2 of which the forecast was horrible, severe thunderstorms. thankfully it wasn’t near as bad as predicted and we had a great time. we left yesterday on what i am CERTAIN was the most glorious day ever. 70 degrees. no humidity. slight breeze and only a few picturesque white clouds in a radiant blue sky. whether i’m there for four days or if i were to be able to be there for four months, i’d honestly never be ready to hit the road.

it’s doubtful we’ll head back this summer which made it even more bittersweet to be there. but i am totally grateful for any time at all on my little piece of heaven.

we rolled in late last night & i was up and at ’em early this morning photographing madison’s best friends from 1st grade–triplets that have grown into beautiful young women. i’m heading out in the morning to spend a couple days with my precious friend edie girl. i may or may not come home from there because she’s promised we’re hanging out on her porch…with hank the dog.

alrighty ya’ll, be back soon!

Mimi - Happy late birthday Paige! You share the day with my niece. I love Seaside! I can’t think of a better place close by to celebrate a special day. Also, thanks for the suggestions of shopping in Atlanta. My daughter and I had an awesome time at Lenox Square, Westside Provisions district, Ikea, and the shopping area around Twelve. That’s where we stayed. Swanky and huge! I wish we could’ve squeezed in Virginia Highlands and some more of the Westside that you recommended but ran out of time. Thanks again!

Jill - Oh my April friend – I never put it together that we have all the April dates in common – we celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary on 4/6 and I will turn 47 years young on the 17th! I totally agree – I feel 35, hope I always will.

Enjoy your Edie time.

Can’t wait to hear about the cheer crowd…….we should compare them to soccer peeps someday…..ah, sports parents! I often feel like a fish out of water at soccer tourney’s. Might be a good thing? But it’s always fun watching your children do what they love, right?

Jan - Was the cheer competition at the Emerald Coast Conference Center in Ft. Walton Beach? If so, I was working in the ticket office. (Money counter). It was crazy! I’ve never seen so many cheerleaders with huge bows on the tops of their heads in all my life.
Hope your little “get-away” trip was fun.
