what a week…

(madi with her new lidocaine patches for her ribs)

not unlike any other week, this one has been somewhat nonstop. i think i need to just come to grips with the reality that we’re just in that phase of life. right?

thank you for all the well wishes for madison. i’ll be honest, half the time i post i can’t remember what i’ve shared & what i haven’t. what images i’ve used & what i haven’t. even when i go back and peruse old posts! so forgive me if this is slightly redundant.

madison has had quite the year with injuries. 2 weeks ago she was at a cheerleading workshop. allday.  it was her first big workout, if you will, since her knee surgery. ( torn ligaments, etc).  she came home “sore all over” but i assumed it was just that day. well to make a long, two week story somewhat short.  she ended up with broken ribs. while she complained of a persistent headache, she denied hitting her head during the fall. after 4 days of that complaint we saw her pediatrician. probable concussion, but could also be secondary to the broken ribs pain.  she also complained of localized pain around her nose. she broke her nose last year by the way. saw the ENT that performed that surgery. he said she was all clear.  the pediatrician called back that night & when i explained madison was getting no relief at all, despite day 10 of round the clock motrin & tylenol, with headaches waking her up at night, she sent us to the emergency room.

luckily i had already voted. and lost a couple followers on instagram after i posted #mitt. i mean really.

she sure seems to be smiling alot in these images. just realized that….

brain CT scan showed no bleeding or other issues. diagnosis-concussion. ( please don’t turn me in for violating any HIPAA laws) apparently not uncommon to have the nonstop headaches.so we’re supposed to follow up with the concussion clinic.  my ped also wants an MRI. we have a 10 page protocol to follow when she can return to what activity. specifically.  she’s been put on a steroid and antihistamine to help since the meds are taking the edge of the headache but not taking it fully away. yet.

savannah had a concussion when she was little. for any of you that have suffered with migraines, concussions, etc. i feel for you. i had migraines when i was in college. dan has migraines. caroline was seen at a neurologist a few years ago , diagnosed with chronic headaches/potential migraines. 8 years old and had visual auras etc. but all this is new for madison.

meanwhile, back at the ranch, we had a couple cute trick or treaters.  emi was clearly cat in the hat.

caroline went as a nerd. cute nerd. she trick or treated without her folks this year. i’m not sure who she thinks she is acting like she’s growing up and all.

savannah & her two best girlfriends were the princesses. she sent me this photo & i about died. how flippin cute are they?  funny thing, when i was a nurse, not much older than she is now, a few of my pediatric patients told me i looked like snow white 😉

now, if you follow me on instagram i apologize because the rest of this post is most certainly a repeater for you. i felt a good phone photo dump was in order.

apparantly i take pictures of my shoes. often.

caroline purchased “fashion” glasses for herself at target. she & emi both “wish” they were glasses in real life. what a couple nuts.

her daddy’s glasses are legit.

i’m knee deep in photoshoots. i started my business a year ago & have had the privilege of several repeat clients. i can’t wait to share the images of this most handsome six year old & his stunning mom. he calls me “picture paige”.  if i’d have only known to wear my grey converse we’d be total twins. i’m sure he would have been so impressed. ha.

time to bust out a new little nora fleming piece

this is dan & madi prior to another doctor visit

my favorite hand to hold.

election day fashion.this is where i pass on writing anything political other than how sad is that we are clearly a nation divided? no matter who you voted for. period.the day after the election it was dark and dreary and rainy. no surprise. madi left to go in for 2 class periods. i left for some retail therapy.  a quiet walk through restoration hardware and anthropologie was the goal. i’m speaking at an event this weekend and needed something other than funky, boots, jeans, etc to wear. i tend to be quite casual. i don’t like my size right now so buying anything fitted and fancy isn’t fun. having said that, i really would love a sequin skirt. to wear with denim and boots. naturally. so anyways, i headed out to find something to wear. i ended up purchasing comfy cozy things. i’ve never been team UGGS but have you put your foot in those babies? oh my word.  emi got some for her birthday last year & quickly changed my mind. so i grabbed myself a pair too.and grabbed a few pillows from here. emi walked in & said, “mom, these are heaven”. worth every penny!

turns out i never found something new to wear this weekend. i’ll definitely need to take it up a notch from my somewhat predictable black leggings, denim shirt & boots. clearly.

alrighty friends, ya’ll have a great weekend!

Kerri - good morning! you are an early bird paige! I usually get to school between 7 and 7:30 and most of the time you have already posted! I have one comment about politics, what is sadder than the fact my man didn’t win is how the country has turned negatively in the last few days (layoffs, the Dow dropping). you are right, we are truly a country divided. I am glad to hear Madison is doing better! I forgot to sport my red, white and blue on Tuesday, but I am wearing it today for our Veteran’s Day service. God bless my dad and all who have served our country! Have a great weekend! XOXO

Kim I - You rock Paige!! And I love that you voted for Mitt because seriously???: Felt like I had been kicked in the gut all day Weds. Anyway, love you and your sweet fam! Thanks for keeping me fashionably inspired :0)

Andrea - Lovely Post!!! I voted the other way But I knew if it went the other way the sun would still come up. I like reading about your girls.

November 9, 2012 - 10:16 am

susie - Paige, So glad to hear Madison is doing better. I too was not a fan of Uggs until my daughter got a pair. I tried them on one day and was immediately hooked. Now they are a must to wear to all of my son’s hockey games.

Have a great weekend.

November 9, 2012 - 11:14 am

kelly - Paige-

Hoping Madi is getting some relief:-( Bless her heart!

I’m totally with you on the uggs, tried on my daughters and told her she is the lucky one who shares my size- more uggs! So comfie, I want the house slippers, can you imagine? Heaven for your feet!

The election rocked our world, spent Wednesday truly grieving the state of our country, then rejoicing that my hope is in the King Who can never be dethroned. So thankful my hope is in Him…

Have a fabulous weekend!

November 9, 2012 - 11:41 am

Jamie Heiserman - Paige I love you! I’m a firm believer in each of us having the right to our own political opinions & so disappointed at how “closed minded” some “liberal” left were this election after reading of many similar unfollows! Sadly I think our country is truly overpopulated with people who want a hand out instead of working hard. Hate that Madi is hurt, but so glad she’s getting the help she needs. Found a fantastic black tulle & sequined skirt Target & another ivory & gold silk skirt @ Ann Taylor yesterday that are not fitted/forgiving! Great minds think alike 😉 xoxo

November 9, 2012 - 11:55 am

Jennifer - Just one more reason confirmed why I like you so much! Can’t wait for some photo time next weekend!
Seriously – I’m aniexty over what to wear and I’m not even in the picture!

November 9, 2012 - 11:57 am

Becky - Hi Paige…I do hope your sweet Madison is on the upswing. I’ve kept her in my thoughts for days…. Your girls are so precious and I always love seeing pictures of them. Savannah looks EXACTLY like Snow White! Much love to you and yours!

November 9, 2012 - 1:05 pm

Deborah - Hi Paige,
First, so glad Madison is on the road to recovery. My first born suffers with migraines and it’s just about the worst. Love the boots and your election day outfit. So darn cute. I too voted for Mitt. Not sure why anyone would want to unfollow you because of your political choice. That’s crazy. I agree that our sweet country seems divided more now than I ever remember in my life. 🙁

November 9, 2012 - 1:13 pm

Kelli - Awe – you have a nice weekend too, Paige. My gosh I know how you feel sometimes. Congrats on being so busy with photography.. but it doesn’t surprise me 😀

November 9, 2012 - 3:07 pm

Becki - I’ve been blog stalking your blog for a year now and I love it! Love all your pictures. As said above, love it even more now! 😉 I have a friends (or so I thought) who says she can’t be my friend anymore because I am a Republican and supported and voted for Mitt. I have been a Republician my entire life. A friend is a friend regardless of their political views….or so I thought. Have a Happy Holiday season!

November 9, 2012 - 3:44 pm

Meg - Hi Paige. I love you, your sweet family, and your blog. I follow you on Instagram too and was horrified at the personal attacks directed at you (and sweet Darby too) after your simple patriotic picture. What is this country coming to? I live in Massachusetts so I’m used to conservatives being bashed but this is just too much!
I hope your daughter gets some relief from her medical woes soon. It can’t be easy for her mama either! Uggs will help : )

November 9, 2012 - 4:24 pm

Tery - I have been a quiet follower for some time. I had to comment about you losing followers for voting for Mitt. I too voted for Mitt and when I put posts in favor of Mitt on Facebook I lost several friends! It’s unreal and very sad.

So sorry that Emi is suffering. Hopfully the patches and time will help. i get migraines too and unless you have them you do not understand the pain and loss of a normal life.

Good luck to your family and I hope you have a great restful weekend after such a week.

Your blog is great and beautiful!

November 9, 2012 - 4:33 pm

Tery - Sorry I meant sorry for Madison! I have had a long week too!

And I agree about the Uggs! They are comfortable!

November 9, 2012 - 6:43 pm

linda - Paige, my gosh I am so glad that madison is getting some relief from her headaches! I’ve thought of her so often this past week and have been worried =) You are too cute with your retail shopping…I did as well, except I went to pottery barn. I follow you too on instagram and LOVE the bracelets you got at anthro!! Also, what color blue polish are you wearing? Is it essie’s “midnight cami”?? I picked some up a month ago and have yet to try it out. And, btw mitt was, and is, the better man hands down to have led our country. I really am fearful for what is coming with obama still in charge, and for where is he wanting to “lead” our country.

November 9, 2012 - 8:58 pm

Nancy H - I heart you! Praying for sweet Madi and love your new purchases 🙂

November 9, 2012 - 10:03 pm

Terry - I feel your pain about the election, Paige, and that of some of the others who commented. Love your blog!

November 9, 2012 - 10:25 pm

Candice - I am learning that sometimes if you believe in something you got to say it out loud and yes I think I lost a few friends over this election! No biggie! I am still team Mitt. What a class act! A beautiful man and woman that stick together like glue- American surely got it wrong! My parents got together at 16, married at 18 and will celebrate 43 years together this year! I think their loyalty to God and one another was too much for this liberal nation! l love your photography and blog!

November 9, 2012 - 11:09 pm

Andrea - I am so glad that Madison is on the mend…..I have kept her in my prayers. Your cat in the hat and nerd….adorable as always… I follow you on instagram and am a bit surprised that you lost some followers about the mitt thing….really? You are correct i guess….we are the nation divided….I voted the other way but am still a follower no matter how you vote…. Have a wonderful weekend….

November 10, 2012 - 10:17 pm

Peggy - Aren’t Uggs simply divine? We moved to Alaska in 2005 and I bought a pair that first winter! We’ve now moved back down to the lower 48 but I still wear that same pair… they still feel like a dream! I am so glad to hear that Madison is doing better… we started praying for her as soon as we heard. You lost followers over Mitt… that is so sad but unfortunately it is a sign of our nation!

Have a wonderful weekend!

November 10, 2012 - 10:20 pm

Andrea - I had already posted and somehow missed that people dropped you because of your vote. I don’t get that at all. I’ll be honest I have followed blogs where I’ve been lectured and ridiculed for voting for Obama. The thing is I know I’m right but here is the other thing…..Romney supporters know they’re right. It’s all good and that is why our country is so great. I am put off by the really negative crazy posts. It is terrible to have the “one” you really see leading only to have them lose. Been there and it does hurt so to have people behave in an unkind way is so wrong. I hope your daughter starts feeling better soon.

November 12, 2012 - 12:02 am

tara - loving your casual style.
maybe because it’s my “go-to” style, too. 🙂

don’t ask me how often I’ve worn that denim shirt with my boots and skinny jeans or black leggings.

about the glasses….wore them for years…got the eye surgery…and now, i secretly want a fake pair…cause they make me look so smart. :))

the election….ugh. nation divided…awful. praying more diligently for the next 4 years.

November 12, 2012 - 11:08 am

Alecia - Poor Madi…I sure hope she gets to feeling better SOON!!! I hope she’s not in for a history of migraines…I’ve had to deal with those since I was a child…no fun at all!! I pray the headache stuff is gone once she’s fully healed from the concussion.

How cute were your trick-or-treaters!!! Savannah is the prettiest Snow White I’ve ever seen! I loved the pic of cute, calm, nerdy Caroline with her crazy friends in the background…hilarious!

I’m with Emi & Caroline…I’ve ALWAYS wanted glasses…I don’t compliment myself much but I’m tellin’ you…this face was MADE for glasses…I can’t tell you the compliments I get when I try other people’s glasses on…Thankful for perfect vision but I sure could use some cute glasses to accessorize with! 🙂

Ok…loved the post as always!
