a matilda jane & noonday collection collaboration

last january when i was interviewing with jessica, the founder of Noonday,  she was so excited to share with me some future collaborations. one of which was going to be with matilda jane.  if you don’t have a daughter under the age of 8 chances are you might not have heard about matilda jane…otherwise, where have you been? no i’m just kidding. sorta.  matilda jane’s designs are truly some of the most creative, whimsical, funky and beautiful clothing pieces you can find!

back to the story. the head honcho at noonday & the head honcho at matilda jane , both amazing entrepreneurs with a mindset for making a difference for others, got together and brainstormed. the matilda jane boss wanted some of her people to head to africa. our noonday boss wanted to create a pathway out of poverty for some of the women in rwanda where she recently adopted her son. you can read a little bit more here.

“when we let you know that we wanted to send eleven women through school to become seamstresses, you responded by sending in scholarship money for them! After spending several months in school, singing on their way to class every day, the women finally graduated in May! They have been working hard all summer to bring you our first ever collection from Rwanda. We partnered with Matilda Jane Clothing on the designs, and we know you are going to buy up every last piece!”

earlier this month the limited supply was released.

  1. available pieces include the weekender bag ( limited quantity available)
  2. jewelry caddy
  3. jennifer’s apron
  4. ruffles iPad cover

the first time i saw this video, i’ll be honest, with tears spilling over the brims of my eyes, i love seeing the faces of hope in these beautiful women. watching a video such as this brings life to these pieces. it puts a face with the weekender bag. it puts the joyful noise of their singing with what’s already a beautiful accessory.

enjoy~especially the ending!

jen@thecottagenest - Seriously! How awesome are women? Can you believe there are some people that think men run the world. Silly people!
