an inspiration piece

i don’t know the first thing about deer. i don’t know the first thing about reindeer. and i sure don’t know anything about hunting. which explains why you’ll never see my facebook profile picture one with me and a deer. that i’ve shot. like ever. i cry when i run over a squirrel. i digress…

anyways. one of my favorite artists is janet hill. i think i honestly love each painting she creates, whether it’s a glamorous fashion piece or whether it’s of a doggy or it’s of a photographer. one of her characters is even named paige. i gifted madison the “austen dresses” for christmas last year. earlier this summer i saw the print titled “portrait of a country squire” and fell in love. since i know nothing of deer or reindeer and this clearly isn’t even technically a christmas print, it become my little muse for christmas decor. i found some shed antlers ( i hope i using correct terminology here) and my sweet sweet friend, who lives on a large piece of property, is actually sending more that she found as we speak. oh happy day.

today is day three for the holiday housewalk!!

the homes this year are absolutely amazing!!!

i’m off to finish things up for ya’ll to come visit our home on friday! see you then!!

Shannon - I fell in love with that print as soon as I saw it as well but the way you pulled the colors and added those vintage ornaments!! It looks beautiful Paige. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of your home Friday 🙂

Amy Avery - I have to say that imagining you posed by your latest deer (er kill) made me laugh out loud as sad as that is. I remember last year a friend posting on Christmas Day a photo of her son and his first deer. Now I know that hunting is necessary and all and it keeps that population down and all, but I am with you in not wanting anything really to do with it. I even sometimes have to leave the meat aisle at the grocery store because it just sets me over the edge. Yes, I am weird in that way. OK so sorry, that was way to much meat talk.
Any who . . . I love the print of the deer that you have and those found “shed” antlers. It is such a tribute to the animal who shed them to include them as an art form in your house. I can’t wait to see your house on the tour. I know it will be so beautiful and fabulous in every way.

Judy - first let me thank you for responding to my question about the scripture cards…i’m ordering a set for my granddaughter for christmas! she’s got (gotten?) very involved in her church in b’ham, children’s choir, etc., and i think they will be a wonderful gift for her.

secondly, i also ordered one of janet hills prints for my other granddaughter…it’s a sweet print of a young girl sitting on her bed against a turquoise tufted headboard reading…this particular granddaughter loves reading and turquoise!

keep all the inspiration coming!

kristin - Love the glimpse of your home, so pretty! Can’t wait to see it all tomorrow.

December 6, 2012 - 5:29 pm

Lemonade Makin' Mama - Having a total love affair with antlers myself. I don’t know anyone who hunts… and the thought of buying some just seems wrong when I grew up in Montana and you could have all the shed antlers you wanted for free if you went hiking. Sheesh. (I do have a request in with my Aunt and Uncle who still live there… I don’t think they “get it” but they said they would see. LOL)

Can’t wait for your holiday walk…. only I’ll be out of town and so I’ll be late for that party. Dangit!! I’ve been looking forward to it all week. 🙂

Janet - So you’re the reason why I can’t keep that darn deer print in stock! Not that I’m complaining. He looks very suited to your beautiful home. Thank you for the lovely post and I hope you have a wonderful and magical Christmas!
