i’ll be the first to tell you that blogging has been such a lifechanger for me…in many ways. it birthed a new passion within me, and brought to life one that already existed. but the biggest thing blogging has gifted me is the friendships that i would never have had without this labor of love, called simple thoughts.

jill & i might as well have grown up going to friday night football games & doubledating for homecoming…. despite the fact that her crush on dan is larger than life and i’ve told her she would have smooched my highschool boyfriend and then we would have hated each other until we rekindled our friendship twenty years later on facebook…but other than that, she’s real life, oldschool, no drama, don’t worry about mopped floors,  just sweet like tupelo honey, kinda friend.

her baby girl. well… we love that child. she’s feisty and white-blond and  has three gorgeous sissies and one hunky big brother and a few golden retrievers. her mama & daddy are good people and the kinda folks you wish were your next door neighbors. she loves weird morning tv characters whose names i can’t recall and has a large scar right smack dab in the middle of her chest as a reminder that her life indeed has a calling. and apparently a big one at that.

on 7.7.11 baby girl received her new can follow her story here.

it’s full of tears and joy, real emotion and mixed with bittersweet thoughts that are all intertwined in transplant stories.

her transplant was in philly, but since atlanta is home to an amazing hospital, she rolls in from tennessee a few times a year for checkups which, lucky me, means i get to see them frequently. we’ve celebrated birthdays & played barbies. i’ve cooked dinner and we’ve hit the varsity.  a few weeks ago we captured hutton’s 6 year portraits. while we started much later than i usually shoot, i loved the way the sunset glowed around  her. enjoy~

( my new wordpress update now makes my images load out of order and the thought of re-doing this at 0′ dark thirty this morning just about did me in so please excuse the sequence)

i’m so thankful she loves me….even when i wear her out!

jody - Hutton’s scar makes a lump rise in my throat because you see I have a 16yr old boy with that same scar. It has been there since he was one day old. Only the left sides of his heart functions. He has had three open heart surgeries, suffered a heart attack, and had too many procedures to count. So glad your photos did not cover Hutton’s scar. It is a beautiful reminder that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Christ has shown us that the scars are evidence of His power and victory in our lives and hearts. Love and prayers for Hutton!

kate marrin - Having just spent a week at Childrens Hospital Boston myself with my middle munchkin (thankfully with nothing as serious as baby girl Hutton) I will vouch that it makes you stop and just thank God for all you have even if you think you’ve got nothing. You’ve done an amazing job documenting her story with your photos Paige.

Kitty - Paige, what a gift you have. Your photography is stunning!! And the emotions your pictures evoke…Wow! What a beautiful angel baby Miss Hutton is and quite a testament to the good in the world. God’s gift in the skill he gave her health care providers, as well as the blessing out of tragedy when he had to call one of his children home so that Miss Hutton could live; it can all be overwhelming. Your sweet words and pictures are a humbling reminder to count our daily blessings. Thank you!
