she’s golden

day 5 & 6 242

(press the play button on the sappy video below the sappy text to have playing while you read so you’ll have the full intended emotion)

i’m not sure when this happened. i swear it was only in about a 2 day span. like i said good night to her one night & she was still the baby. and then it seemed like the next day she was not. she woke up a tween. with thoughts of independence. she told me she’s gonna set her own alarm and that i didn’t need to wake her up anymore. because you know. she’s twelve. what the heck?

day 5 & 6 139

at dinner the other night i told savannah she’s always seemed older than her actual age. first born probs. i told caroline that in my heart, she’s younger than her actual age. last born probs.

day 5 & 6 137

she’s lean and hasn’t an ounce of fat on her.

she wears skinny jeans & high top converse and looks entirely too cute. and stylish. at 12-that’s quite an accomplishment.

she’s in all advanced classes. she’s on the leadership team for the student led ministry at her middle school.

she loves neopolitan icecream but is trying to “cut back”

she loves MAC and can honestly give an excellent makeover to anyone. her college sisters allow her the honors. frequently.

she has a favorite mascara & a boy that is putting the full court press efforts on trying to get her attention.

she’s not boy crazy. i promise.

she wakes up with baby’s breath but quickly heads into the bathroom to brush her teeth & use mouthwash. like an adult.

she’s on a no-heat campaign trying to strengthen her hair. and uses olive oil nightly.

she’s reading Insurgent. all 500 pages. but she still doesn’t like the  Harry Potter books. movies-yes. all of them.

she does a fantastic british accent. actually she can do fabulous voice overs…adele anyone?

she has a super group of friends. they are fun and smart & pretty girls. good girls. and i love their mama’s.

she’s on an allstar cheer squad and i can hardly wait to watch her perform.

she crinkles her nose when she giggles & she still stands on tippy toes in the kitchen. she did it this very morning.

she requests things like almond milk & kashi when i head to the grocery store. for real.

she loves Imagine Dragons and Philip Phillips too.

she has never broken her iphone and makes her bed each morning.

she picked out a new duvet for her bed. and has a sign on it’s way from Between You & Me etsy. you’re gonna love it.

she’s introverted and kind. tender hearted and genuine. she never ever ever is in a bad mood. like ever.

she doesn’t like it when people pronounce her name carolyn nudsen. it’s caroline. and the K is not silent in knudsen.

she tells me thank you every morning before she hops out of the car in carpool line. she actually says it twice, followed by I Love You.

she’s golden. she’s goodness of the purest kind. and she’s 12. and she’ll always be the baby to me.

Christy - What an awesome girl that Caroline, I hope my daughter takes after yours and has some those of same traits as she gets older. Beautiful song!!

September 26, 2013 - 7:32 am

Jennifer - You did good momma!
And what I would give for a little lean figure like that and to be that flexible! She’s incredible!

September 26, 2013 - 7:48 am

Lori H - I have been reading your blog for a while, and have seen Caroline blossom into the beautiful girl you described. And yes, it all happens so fast! Also, I didn’t realize that the K in your name isn’t silent!

September 26, 2013 - 7:57 am

Kerri - She is such a sweetie! And I think the name has a lot to do with it, don’t you agree? While my Caroline is only 4, we always refer to her as Sweet Caroline, because she really is so sweet! And I never knew that you pronounce the K in Knudsen! My Caroline is the baby too and I will always refer to her as the baby. It is what a momma has to do, right? And I totally agree with what you said about Savannah, that you feel she is older. Ava is my first born and while she is just a few weeks shy of turning 6, we feel like she has been around a lot longer and she has a lot of Savannah’s traits. I sincerely hope both of my girls turn out as wonderful as all of the Knudsen girls have! Great job to their precious momma! XOXO
