mickey mouse themed 1st birthday celebration!

WV market morning

if you’ve peeked in sometime over the last few days, i hope you feel blessed & encouraged by my little friend gabe and his super special family. if not, you simply must read a little backstory of his adoption here & here.

so without further delay, i’d love to share the details of his party! his mama morgan told me that gabe gets tickled & delighted when he sees images of mickey mouse. so a mickey mouse themed first birthday party it was. morgan & her sister in law kathleen planned & created the most precious celebration. from a homemade smash cake with buttercream frosting from scratch, to ribbons & burlap garland. homemade sugar cookies with royal icing that “hardly took anytime at all“. right. kathleen created & sewed handmade embellished t-shirts for gabe, mommy & daddy. paper signs, complete with disney font, were made for all the disney themed treats. craft paper was rolled into party hats & topped with handmade yarn poms. solo cups were embellished with mickey-like white button dots. craft paper was fan folded to resemble mickey’s silhouette & brown paper bags were decked out for the popcorn & candy bar. morgan created a fabric garland to string up behind present-opening-central. once plain wooden letters were covered with disney themed paper for game’s initials as well as “one”. family members chipped in and handmade the gorgeous wooden sign to greet guests ( future play room decor of course) and a fabulous candy bar was set up, complete with ribbon garland. morgan created a “gabe’s first year at a glance” garland.  and finally, donations were made to Sisters by Heart. every penny given will sponsor the Fontan hero cape (shown below). these are part of the care package for HLHS children ( see previous post to explain HLHS) in the hospital for the 3rd part of the reconstruction process.

sure i’ve accidentally left something out, but for now, enjoy!~

Marcy Norman Cox - Such a fun theme.. And what an incredibly talented and creative momma and aunt this adorable little boy has. As always, Paige, you have done a fantastic job capturing this special day. Great photos of this beautiful family. Favorite photo has to be the last, where he is all tuckered out on his momma’s lap. Thanks for sharing.
