pumpkin time & a few other details

i’m here to tell you, for the most part i’m loving wordpress & really loving having all my links and information and photography and noonday and life all in one place. i was doing a poor job having two blogs.  i realize it’s mighty important to keep all forms of social media rolling in this day and age especially in regards to running a couple businesses. so having one stop for everything is great. at least as far as blogging goes. i’m still trying to decide whether a personal facebook page and a business facebook page are both necessary.

meanwhile, having to resize every. single. image for wordpress is about to be the death of me. if any photographers who shoot with the largest file option have also mastered a trick in the “no image can  exceed 2.0mb” on wordpress let me know. so, due to the current resize every. single. image. crisis my five times a week blogging has come to a screeching halt.

i have however been working on my portfolios ( again, requiring resizing) and if you click on the link in the navigation bar above labeled “portfolio” you can see what i’ve added so far. much much much more coming.

speaking of social networking, i’ve instagrammed ( follow me here)  a few images and since a few friends have asked details i’ll include those in today’s post.

let’s hear it for pumpkin season. i mean besides christmas and summer break, is the beginning of autumn not the most wonderful time of the year or what?

i usually start stalking my local markets and calling whole foods and trader joes for pumpkins come mid-september. i clean out my ginormous dough bowl filled with seashells in anticipation. 🙂

i found the cutest print of one of my most favorite scriptures. one of my dearest friends reminded me of this verse years ago when gregg was sick. i remember thinking that was the first time i had ever heard it, really heard it anyway. to think the Lord delights in me and he saves me is too much for me to comprehend many days.  print found here

little bit’s latest favorite store is urban outfitters. she’s making her own fashion statements by living in her black hightop converse and edgy funky tshirts. part biker girl, part funky, part oldschool , mostly cuteness overload.   she found these little glittered owls while we were there the other night…little lipgloss…too cute. she inherited my obsession with lipgloss. what can i say?did i already post the  following images of my middle two girls & i already? gosh i hope not.  how obnoxious would that be. see, keeping up with photos for social networking is clearly an area in which i could use some extra organizational skills.remember when i posted about skinny cords from target? well i love the skinny cords from target. tried on the skinnies from old navy and left all grumbly because they run just a size ( maybe two) small.  so i need to suck it up and head back over there and try on another pair. apparently two sizes larger. and get over myself since i frequently tell my own daughters “don’t worry what size the tag says”…ugh.

the shoes however are my new most favorites. the calf hair sidewalk skimmers from madewell. you too can grab some right here.

several months ago my most generous friend gave me a gift card for erin condren. since i’m already all hooked up for 2012-2013 with my gold mom agenda i decided to purchase a fancy phone cover. i otherwise probably wouldn’t have ponied up big bucks for this but i LOVE it. it’s sorta slippery compared to my tech-candy one that had a grip but i’ve been super careful and have yet to drop it 😉 .

sara happ’s lip scrub in vanilla bean and lip slip are yet another luxury. gosh i feel kinda dorky talking about lip gloss. please don’t send me hate mail saying “why do you want to go to africa yet love lip gloss. have you not read 7 yet?”….go easy on me ok. if i ever do go to africa and if i do downsize to 7 things i can assure you i will take my lipgloss and i will probably be buried with lipgloss. so there.

all my market stalking  paid off. i was able to find some cute pumpkins.  down south, finding gorgeous blues and cinderellas can be like winning the lottery. rare & fabulous!  clearly i take my pumpkin picking very seriously.

come on in & i’ll show you a few. i’ve already changed things around half a dozen times since i took these images. but the thought of taking more pictures & resizing them makes me have heart palpitations…i even painted a couple gold and glittered a few too…but for now….

Heather - Do you use photoshop? Have you tried creating an action for sizing your pictures? You can use it on a whole batch and program it to save in a specific place too. It’s a life-saver if you have lots of photos to work through! Love the pumpkin with the curly stem “strings” still on it!

Shannon - I wish I had choices like that for pumpkins, most of our consist of the ‘OG’ orange ones and when I do find pretty white or cinderella ones it’s almost always too late and they are picked over. I need to be quicker and call like some crazy people 😉 lol. I’m with you on the lip slip, it is by far my favorite gloss atleast for now that is. Little Caroline with her owl glosses is too cute and I love she is breaking out her own style!

Alecia - Love it…just FYI…my roomie & I went shopping at Old Navy…she’s a size 6 and tried on the skinny cords…she had to go up to a 12 for them to fit…that’s just CRAZY!!! So don’t be discouraged…they had some great colors to choose from…just ignore the tag…you can do it!!! 🙂

Love sweet Brinkley greeting you at the door…such a sweet pup & that gorgeous fall painting you put out every year…LOVE IT!!!

Happy Fall, friend!

Heather - I’m not familiar with Photoshop Elements but this looks like a good tutorial for resizing batches of pictures. And most importantly, there are step-by-step photos. (A must for me!) 🙂
