morning everyone! if you’re visiting from brandi’s blog, welcome!
okay my friends, i have a treat for you! i’m joining in with several other Noonday Collection blogging ambassadors to offer you over a month worth of giveaways! you can start at the beginning with my sweet friend wynne & follow right along. i guarantee you’ll meet some amazing women many of whom have become dear dear friends of mine.
last week i shared with you some thoughts about my passion with noonday and how YOU are a part of this story. it was sorta lengthy so today i’ll keep it a little more bief. ish.
i think where i want to land today is here–when we feel that the problem, the crisis, the issue, whatever it is is larger than life, we tend to just shut down. shut the book and go put our heart & our energy into something where we can feel a tangible change is being made. for example, let’s look at the overwhelmingly staggering truth that there are over 153 million orphans. there are 6 countries whose population exceeds that number.
so. “orphans” represent the 7th largest nation. this is a number many of us can hardly begin to wrap our minds around.
but what about this.
see that little fella. one little fella. now in a forever home. one sweet round face. one life forever changed. a hope and a future. a forever home. sometimes trying to save the somewhere between 140 and 160 million seems mind boggling however seeing an image like jessica & joe with their one. now that’s something our hearts can process. but what this image represents to me is that a little help. a little voice. a little platform. a little anything backed and fueled with a lot of prayer and passion and a big God DOES make a difference. and “even if” that difference is in the life of one…it’s worth everything we can give & do.
before joining noonday my world view was embarrassingly minute. savannah’s longtime sweetheart trevor, his family adopted 8 children from russia following the death of his biological brother. other than the hillis family, i knew relatively few adoptive families. through noonday, & susan hillis (trevor’s amazing world changing mama) my eyes are now opened to the orphan crisis. but one of the amazing things i’ve also had my eyes open to is the created marketplace where artisans make a sustainable dignified income…and their children are able to stay in their biological families. and noonday is one of those.
i feel through noonday i’ve been able to see two amazing things. the hope in the faces of our artisans and the lives changed through this pathway out of poverty. so families are staying together. and i’ve seen & heard of many many more little ones coming into their forever homes. one of the super things is that noonday gives to help support adoption. if you host a party for an adoptive family, noonday will give 10% of the shows total in cash to the family and help bring that child home!
when dan & i were married, he adopted my girls. adopt means to chose or to take as one’s own. gregg & dan had been great friends. roommates for years. and dan was actually one of gregg’s best men in our wedding. dan seemingly seamlessly stepped into fatherhood with a selfless love that i feel truly is a picture of how our heavenly father loves us. i truly believe gregg couldn’t be more proud of who chose to take his own baby girls as “his own.”
so. a couple of things. and believe me, i by no means am trying to simplify the vastness of the orphan crisis. three years ago i never even knew there was such a thing. i just had it on my heart today & wanted to share this as well. this is susan hillis ( trevor’s mama). i emailed her the other day & said…umm…i’m having difficulty explaining your job title. can you email it to me? ha!
