easter at our home, “oceans” & nester’s new book

01easter paige knudsen

goodness gracious ya’ll! after two super dark  & dreary days we awoke sunday to a glorious easter sunrise & what turned out to be a perfectly lovely day! which is exactly how i always picture good friday & then easter to be!

with all five of us girls trying to get ready at the same time we were not free from a little sunday morning drama and maybe even an ugly comment or two was said. hashtag real life. but the words spoken by our pastor & listening to one of madi’s bff’s sing oceans was a beautiful reminder of what we have to truly be thankful for and that is, HE IS RISEN!!!

since all the crew was home & outdoors was glorious, we celebrated and moved our simple lunch outside to the back porch. ham & turkey, caprese salad, prosciutto wrapped asparagus, dan’s mama’s macaroni & cheese ( i double the cheese. thankyouverymuch), & parker house rolls. i promptly forgot that i had angel food cake which i planned to top with fresh whipped creme and berries. who forgets dessert? honestly.

savannah has developed into quite the hand lettering artist. i love sitting beside her at church because her journal is truly a work of art. and lest you think she’s all doodles, she writes a powerful application.

she freshened up the dining room chalkboard as well! lucky mom!

bailey was in town & it’s all laughs when she & savannah get together. makes me miss having my crew all under one roof, with their friends. at all times. sigh.12easter paige knudsen14easter paige knudsen15easter paige knudsen

& lastly. oh happy day because look what arrived in the mail last week! nester’s new book, the nesting place, will release next week and i can honestly say- you are gonna LOVE it!! you can pre-order here. i’ll share my love for myquillyn & how i wish i had her mantra when i was first married twenty three years ago. things were not all hashtag, it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful in my 90’s newlywed life. sadly. she’s pioneered and so sweetly paved the road of  embracing what we have, rented or not.  this book, not only is it gorgeous, it’s a humble yet powerful encouragement to everyone of us. did i mention you’re gonna love it?

Jeannine - I am so sorry its been ages since I posted — life changed and time became short! On break now, with time to catch up! You are all so beautiful, as always. So happy to hear about the Nesting Place book! I do prefer having everything in one place, with actual pages to touch and turn(one day we’ll all have our “Simple Thoughts” book, too! Believe it!). Oceans is my favorite – want to lisen now!

Thank you for the uplift – my heart was heavy this morning. Can I ask a question of a more experienced mom? Friendships issues at school — what to do when your children are behaving the way you raised them (no cursing, praising God, treating others kindly, carefully choosing music/books/games/etc.), and it’s causing them to be left out, even targeted, even in a Christian school?

Prayers for you and many thanks to you, Miss Paige, for all you share with your readers.

Michelle Whitaker - This post is a work of art. The beautiful photography, tablescape, chalk art and your daughter’s lovely book are divine. I take notes at our church and it doesn’t look this pretty lol. I did want to ask you if you are still loving your chalk paint on your table? It is so lovely. I want to try it too.

Linsey @ Bravehearted Beauty - Hallie introduced me to Oceans by singing it around the house, and while Hillsong sings it beautifully, I sure do love to hear my little songbird sing it! Showed her this link on your blog; she loved it! It’s such a joy to see your family all together. I know it must’ve been a joy to your heart. We didn’t do pretty Easter this year. But when you make it over to my blog, you’ll see what we did instead! xoxo
