thanks to day light savings, it’s now dark when i wake caroline up for school in the morning. the sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon this morning when i began to hear the birds chirping so sweet & loud. when she was a little baby girl & i’d hear the birds chirping, i would always say “the birdies are singing happy birthday to you”. i honestly think the week of her birthday their song is maybe a tad more sweet than any other week, as if to announce “it’s spring, it’s spring!!!”
so my littlest one, born on the first day of spring is turning 12. and as cliche as it is, it’s so hard to believe my sweet baby girl is really no longer a baby girl.
12 is just on the fence, trying to climb up & over in to the teenager yard. but yet still looks like a little girl in untied converse. it’s middle school & sometimes mean girls. it’s first bras & lip gloss. it’s ipods & youtube. it’s innocent & fresh. it’s funny & sometimes a little awkward. it’s deciding what to do with your talents & having “the” talk. it’s still snuggly & giggly. & it’s still moldable.
so let me tell you a little about my caroline~~
she never wakes on the wrong side of the bed. ever.
she’s super smart & in all the advanced classes. with all a’s.
she does not have a boyfriend.
she loves combat boots & funky biker style.
she crinkles her nose when she laughs.
she loves florence & the machines
she wept, wept, during Les Miserables.
she loved it. she loved it so much her pass code is 24601. ( any jean valjean fans?)
she says please & thank you & my pleasure.
she loves fruit & poptarts.
she wants to be an editor in a fashion/beauty magazine.
she is obsessed with loves make-up tutorials on youtube.
she loves MAC.
she is a little stud at tumbling having just stuck her roundoff-back handspring-tuck last week.
she is gentle, tender and introverted.
she is a happy child.

My youngest daughter turns 12 at the end of the month and it is hard to imagine her growing up as well. Twelve is such a delicate age. They are in between a child and woman. One moment she doesn’t need any help and the next she wants a long hug.
