a shout out for a couple special friends

hello my friends. i realize today is indeed saturday. it feels like we’ve been in 21 day stretch of saturdays around here. which is good right? it’s also been a pretty long stretch of frequent dreary days. i told dan this morning, i could easily suffer from depression if our weather was like it is today all the time. i kid you not. i love a rainy day probably more than most folks but dreary, cold days where the sun sets at like 4:30 get rough pretty quick.

well now that i have you all encouraged, i wanted to rise up from my lack of energy and overall gloomy mood and share two of my favorite small businesses with you.

ruth & i actually met at the pearl event in nashville a couple years ago. she has a solid gold heart for the oppressed. she is a generous kind woman & i am grateful that i am able to photograph some of the products she carries in her store, carol & company. she recently opened an actual brick & mortar store and being a former gift shop owner myself, i’m thrilled to watch what lies ahead for her in the future! i know she can touch peoples hearts whether through her stellar customer service online or actually greeting someone that enters her shop in chicago.

she’s currently running an extra 25% off her SALE items, enter code wintersale good through wednesday january 8th. several items shown below on madison are included in her sale.

this was her recent facebook status & it totally fires me up with excitement! ruth YOU are a world changer my friend & making a difference in the world around you! i totally champion you on!

“Thank you to all our customers for a fantastic 2013! Because of your support, we were able to make a large donation to Wellspring Living which helps women that have been trafficked and abused. Throughout the year we also contributed to International Justice Mission and a local cause that is dear to our heart www.RollingforJames.com. We want you to know when you shop at Carol & Company, you can trust a portion of your purchase will be given back to help those in need as this is one of our highest values”

again, 25% off any item in our Sale Categories. Code: WINTERSALE good through january 8th.

ruth recently began carrying sugarboo items which i’ve been a freaky ginormous fan of since they began back in the late 90’s. hallelujah!¬† my desk has a rather growing stack of their paper goods. and now my new love is their fabulous pillows. heaven help me as i want them all. how’s that for contentment.

since i spend a large amount of time looking through the window over my kitchen sink, i felt a great place for the “life is beauty full” reminder¬† was right on my back porch. and the elephant is always a beloved image for me as well.

the other small business that i’ve truly enjoyed watching her flourish is tiffini’s House of Belonging.¬† talk about an overcomer, tiffini has such a love for others & a transparent heart always ready to encourage. tiffini just released her new line, deeper still. i think you’re going to love her new signs!

when i first saw the glinda quote, i knew i needed to purchase it for my madison. i’ve watched her come along way after a pretty crummy last year & feel she’s overcome much! i knew it’d be perfect for her! ( complete with gold crown!)

Susan W - Happy New Year!
Some people find it hard to believe even if you live in Florida we get those gloomy days too, so I understand what you mean about the weather!
I’m really happy with the bracelets I received from the Noonday Collection and as a gift they are perfect to give and encourage others to check out this site/organization that you are a part of!
Thank you much for the links to your friends new places- have loved some of the items I’ve gotten from Carol & Co., so nice to know people helping others without motives of anything but genuine goodness and love in their hearts!
Loved both your models in some of the shots (Madison & Brinkley)! They know how to pose just right for their Momma!
